2 Murderers in Sedayu Bantul Arrested by Police

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation (Reskrim) Operations Team of the Bantul Police and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Regional Police (Polda) Operations secured two perpetrators of a murder at the victim's house in Kaliurang Village, Argomulyo Village, Sedayu, Bantul.

"The two perpetrators are brothers SS and FS. The perpetrators were secured in the Sedayu area on Thursday (5/3/2026) at around 04.00 WIB by the Opsnal Team of the Bantul Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Opsnal Polda DIY," said Bantul Police Chief AKBP Bayu Puji Hariyanto in a press conference at the Bantul Police, Wednesday, March 11.

According to him, after the examination or interrogation of the perpetrator, the perpetrator admitted that he had committed a stabbing against the victim with the initials KYR (36) until he died. The incident occurred on Wednesday (25/2) around 05.00 WIB.

He said the incident began on Tuesday (24/2) at around 20.00 WIB, the perpetrator and the victim were eight people at that time gathered with their friends at the victim's house in Argomulyo, Sedayu, while consuming alcoholic beverages.

At that time, the victim had uttered words that offended the perpetrator, until the perpetrator was offended. On Wednesday (25/2) at 04.00 WIB, the perpetrator took a machete and returned to the victim's house with his friend FS at around 05.00 WIB, at that time the victim was sleeping with his wife and child.

"Then the perpetrator swung the machete towards the left head of the victim. Then when the victim's wife woke up, the perpetrator swung the machete back towards the victim, but the victim's wife repelled it with her right hand," he said.

Then the perpetrator swung the machete back once to the victim's right thigh. And after that the perpetrator fled with his friend FS who was waiting on the road near the victim's house.

As a result of the incident, the victim KYR died at the scene. Furthermore, the incident was reported to the Sedayu Police by the reporter, who was also the victim's wife.

The Bantul Police Chief said that the motive for the perpetrator to stab the victim KYR was because of the victim's words, so the perpetrator SS invited another perpetrator FS to take a machete at his house to carry out the stabbing.

He said that for their actions, the two perpetrators were suspected of Article 459 Subsider 458 paragraph 1 Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"With the threat of death penalty, life imprisonment or imprisonment for a maximum of 20 years," he said.
