TANJUNG SELOR - Former Regent of Nunukan, Basri, was examined by investigators of the Special Criminal Investigation (Pidsus) of the North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati), Wednesday (11/3/2026).

Basri, who served as the Regent of Nunukan in the 2011-2016 period, was examined as a witness at the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency.

Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the Kaltara Prosecutor's Office, Andi Sugandi, said that this examination was related to the investigation of alleged criminal acts in the mining sector in Nunukan Regency.

"Mr. Basri started undergoing examination from 10.00 Wita until around 17.30 Wita. During the examination process, investigators asked more than 30 questions to dig up information related to the case being investigated," said Andi Sugandi.

"This examination aims to deepen the testimony of witnesses in the investigation of alleged criminal acts in the mining sector in the Kaltara region, especially the Nunukan Regency," he continued.

He explained that in addition to Basri, investigators also examined Jonathan Purba (JP) who served as Head of the Rights Determination and Registration Section at the Nunukan Regency Land Office.

"Jonathan Purba was examined from 09.00 Wita until around 14.00 Wita and received about 15 questions from investigators," he said.

Andi added, in the investigation process of this case, investigators have also asked for information from a number of officials in the Nunukan Regency Government environment related to mining sector licensing and management.

"Several officials whose offices had previously been searched have also been questioned by investigators at the Kaltara Attorney General's Office, including the Head of the Legal Section (Kabag), the Head of the Economy and Natural Resources Section of the Nunukan Secretariat, and the Head of the Nunukan Regency Investment and One-Stop Service (DPMPTSP) Office," said Andi.

Previously, the Kaltara Regional Attorney's Office investigation team carried out searches at a number of offices related to licensing and management of the mining sector in Nunukan Regency.

The search, which lasted for two days, Thursday to Friday (25-26 February 2026), was carried out at five locations, namely the Nunukan Class IV Harbor and Port Authority (KSOP) Office, the Nunukan Regency DPMPTSP Office, the Nunukan Regency Secretariat's Economic and Natural Resources Section Office, the Nunukan Regency Legal Section Office, and the Nunukan Regency Environmental Service Office.

From the results of the search, investigators seized hundreds of documents, both in written and electronic form, which were suspected to be related to the case under investigation.
