Senator of the Democratic Party Chris Murphy called the war plan of the United States Government under President Donald Trump against Iran "incoherent and incomplete", fearing that the conflict could turn into an "endless war" after attending a two-hour secret briefing on Capitol Hill, Washington D.C., Tuesday.

"All briefings are closed, because Trump cannot defend this war in public," the senator from Connecticut said on X, launching CNN (11/3).

"But you have a right to know how incoherent and incomplete this war plan is," he said.

Murphy, who is among many Democratic senators pushing for a public hearing on the war, said he could not reveal classified information, but conveyed some concerns that emerged from the briefing.

"Maybe the main point is that the goal of the war does NOT involve the destruction of Iran's nuclear weapons program. This, uh... surprising... because Trump has repeatedly said this is the main goal," he tweeted.

Murphy, who sits on the Budget and Foreign Relations Committee, said the briefers confirmed to senators that regime change was not on the administration's list of primary objectives.

"So, they're going to spend hundreds of billions of your tax dollars, cause a lot of Americans to die, and a hardline regime - maybe a HARDER hardline regime - will still be in power," Murphy wrote.

CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.

"The question that baffles them: what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?" said Murphy.

"They are hinting at more bombing. Which of course, is an endless war," he said.

Murphy was also dissatisfied with the briefing on the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important energy-prone point, which carries about a fifth of all crude oil and is now effectively controlled by Iran.

"They have NO PLAN," Murphy said.

"I can't explain in more detail how Iran is blocking the Taiwan Strait, but suffice it to say, right now, they don't know how to safely reopen it. This is inexcusable, because part of this disaster is 100% predictable," he added.
