JAKARTA - The National Mandate Party (PAN) officially removed the Regent of Rejang Lebong, Muhammad Fikri Thobari, after being caught in the KPK's hand-in-hand operation (OTT) on Tuesday, March 10.

Deputy Chairperson of the PAN DPP Viva Yoga Mauladi revealed that after stumbling upon the alleged bribery case for the project, Fikri no longer served as the chairman of the PAN Rejang Lebong DPD.

"DPP PAN dismissed Muhammad Fikri Thobari from the party's structural position. For the time being, the chairman of the Rejang Lebong PAN DPD has been taken over by the Bengkulu PAN DPW," he said in his statement.

Viva Yoga added that his party does not tolerate what Fikri did. He said Fikri's actions did not reflect the principles, as well as PAN's commitment to supporting the eradication of corruption.

Currently, PAN also respects the steps taken by the KPK to thoroughly investigate the case experienced by Fikri.

"We believe that law enforcement must be transparent, objective, professional, and in accordance with the principles of justice," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the regent of Rejang Lebong was secured in a hand-in-hand operation carried out by the KPK team in the Bengkulu region on Monday evening.

In this operation, not only Fikri Thobari was secured. A number of other parties were also brought by investigators as part of the anti-corruption agency's enforcement activities.
