JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon fully supports the plan for the 2026 Indonesian Arts Festival initiated by nine art institutes in Indonesia. The support was conveyed when meeting with the Rector of ISI Padangpanjang Febri Yulika at the Ministry of Culture office, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 10.

During the meeting, Fadli emphasized that the art festival did not stop at the performance stage. According to him, agendas like this must be used to strengthen the art ecosystem while opening wider avenues for works that are born from local traditions and wisdom.

"We fully support the 2026 Indonesian Arts Festival which was initiated by nine art institutes in Indonesia. The Ministry of Culture is open to synergize in strengthening programs that encourage the creativity of young generations and expand public appreciation of art and culture," said Fadli Zon.

Fadli also saw that the festival could be connected with a number of Ministry of Culture programs. One of the discussed was the randai workshop, traditional Minangkabau folk theater, which was considered to be coordinated with the National Talent Management program. The agenda was also said to be associated with the 100th Anniversary of Jam Gadang in June or July.

The Rector of ISI Padangpanjang Febri Yulika said the Indonesian Arts Festival 2026 was prepared as a common space for art universities to showcase their works, exchange ideas, and expand cooperation.

"The Indonesian Arts Festival is an art event that has broad implications in the development of arts and culture in Indonesia, as well as making a significant contribution to building a positive image of art colleges at the national and international levels," said Febri.

From the meeting it was seen that the nine art campuses not only wanted to be present as participants, but were positioned as drivers. The government also gave a signal of support. Local traditions will remain a foothold, while art campuses are encouraged to enter further into the national cultural stage.
