PEKANBARU - The joint team is still struggling to extinguish forest and land fires (karhutla) in four fire points that are still in the process of extinguishing and cooling in a number of areas in Riau Province.
Head of the Emergency Department of the Riau Regional Disaster Management and Fire Service, Jim Ghafur, said the fire point was spread over two districts, namely Indragiri Hilir Regency and Bengkalis Regency.
"There are still four fire points being handled. Three points are in Indragiri Hilir Regency and one point in Bengkalis Regency," said Jim Ghafur in Pekanbaru, Antara, Tuesday, March 10.
He detailed three fire points in Indragiri Hilir Regency, each located in Tanjung Pidada Village, Tempuling District; Simpang Gaung Village, Gaung District; and Tagagiri Tama Jaya Village, Pelangiran District.
Meanwhile, another point was detected in Bengkalis Regency, namely in Sukarjo Mesim Village, Rupat District.
The joint team consisting of TNI, Polri, Manggala Agni, BPBD, and the Fire Care Society continues to work intensively to ensure that the fire can be immediately controlled and not spread to other areas.
Until now, the extinguishing effort is still being carried out through land routes by a joint team that has been at the scene.
"Officers in the field are still carrying out extinguishing and cooling at the location. All joint teams continue to work to control the fire so that it does not spread," he said.
Meanwhile, the helicopter water bombing assistance from the National Disaster Management Agency is still in the process of being prepared and has not arrived in Riau Province.
Therefore, for the time being, the extinguishing efforts still rely on the strength of personnel and equipment on land.
"For now, the blackout is still being carried out through land routes. The helicopter water bombing assistance from BNPB has not yet arrived in Riau," said Jim Ghafur.
