Prabowo Breaks Fast with NU, Muhammadiyah, MUI Leaders at the Palace

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto shared the moment of breaking the fast with Rais Aam, the General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Miftachul Akhyar, Muhammadiyah Chairman (Ketum) Prof. Haedar Nashir, and the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Anwar Iskandar at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

In one corner of the room at Istana Merdeka, as shared by the official @prabowo social media account, President Prabowo enjoyed a meal of takjil and dates while breaking the fast with Rais Aam PBNU, Ketum of the Central Management (PP) of Muhammadiyah, and Ketum MUI at a small round table that was enough for four people.

President Prabowo was seated flanked by the General Chair of the Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah Prof. Haedar Nashir on the right side, then by the General Chair of the Indonesian Ulema Council KH Anwar on the left side, while Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar sat opposite President Prabowo.

Selamat berbuka puasa bagi saudara-saudara yang menjalankan Ibadah Puasa," demikian keterangan dari dua foto berbuka puasa yang dibagikan oleh Presiden Prabowo dalam akun resmi @prabowo di Jakarta, Kamis malam.

President Prabowo held a gathering with kiai and representatives of Islamic community organizations (ormas) at the middle courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday evening. The event, which was attended by a number of kiai and ulama from various organizations, was preceded by an iftar event.

Several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet were also present at the event, including Coordinating Minister for Social Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, and Minister of Religion Prof. Nasaruddin Umar.

The meeting with the ulama began at 19.00 WIB.

On a separate occasion, MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani told reporters when he was met at the Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (4/3), explaining that President Prabowo wanted to hear directly the opinions of the ulama regarding Indonesia's position on the escalation in the Gulf countries in the Middle East, especially after the unilateral attack by the US military and the Zionist Israel to Iran last week.

"(The meeting with the ulama, ed.) is also part of the President's efforts to listen to opinions, although the President will also convey his views and his way of looking at the issue," said Muzani.
