JAKARTA - A landslide covered a provincial road connecting Padang City-Bukittinggi via Sicincin-Balingka, specifically in Malalak, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, so that access was completely paralyzed since Tuesday afternoon (3/3).
Head of the Agam Communication and Information Office, Roza Syafdefianti, said that the landslide buried the road body, specifically at KM 72+800, Nagari Malalak Timur, Malalak District.
"Soil and rock material cover the road body so that the access cannot be passed by vehicles," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 4.
The landslide buried the road body at the location of the road which was blocked due to the impact of the hydrometeorological disaster that hit the area at the end of November 2025.
The road is being repaired by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) since a few weeks ago.
For this reason, the Agam Regency Government has coordinated with PT HKI which is working on the Sicincin, Malalak and Balingka road sections to immediately lower the heavy equipment to clean the landslide material and reopen traffic access.
"Heavy equipment belonging to PT HKI has cleaned up the landslide material," he said.
He said the landslide buried the provincial road due to heavy rainfall that hit the area.
With the condition of the land still unstable, he appealed to the public and road users to temporarily avoid the route, and remain alert to the potential for landslides considering the weather conditions which are still potentially rainy.
"Avoid passing through the road and remain vigilant," he said.
