Transjakarta Services Free During Lebaran Holidays, Including TransJabodetabek

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will make the Transjakarta public transportation service free of charge during the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Fitr celebration. This policy applies to all services, including the main corridor to the feeder route.

Transjakarta President Director, Welfizon Yuza, said all services would be free of charge without exception. This policy is usually applied during national holidays to promote the use of public transportation by the community.

"If we look at the implementation of free services, namely all Transjakarta services. So including TransJabodetabek, then BRT, non-BRT, the tariff is Rp0. If Mikrotrans (Jaklingko) is indeed Rp0," said Welfizon to reporters, Wednesday, March 4.

Welfizon explained that this policy is part of the DKI Provincial Government's commitment to supporting citizen mobility during religious holidays. Previously, free services were also applied during Christmas, Chinese New Year, and Ramadan momentum.

For the date of implementation, Transjakarta is still waiting for a formal decision from the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office. "There will be a SK from the secretary of the ministry. We are waiting for whether it will be on the 1st of Syawal or on what date, 1 and 2, we will see," he said.

Even though it is free of charge, the electronic ticket system will still be charged at Rp1. This is related to the payment technology mechanism which still requires a nominal transaction.

"In terms of technology, because there must be a process of rupiah transferred from the card, that's why the conversion from Rp0 to Rp1," said Welfizon.

In addition to tariffs, Transjakarta will also adjust operating hours on Lebaran Day. This adjustment is carried out so that drivers and employees can perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer.

On Lebaran day, services will begin operating around 09.00 or 10.00 WIB, depending on the pattern of community activity during Lebaran, which generally begins after the Id prayer and family visits.

"Learning from our experience serving on big days, usually on Eid day, we adjust the operating hours. To give the opportunity to all employees, especially the crew members, to be able to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayers," he concluded.
