JAKARTA - The joint operation of Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta (Jaktim) confiscated more than 400 bottles of liquor (miras) in a raid carried out during the holy month of Ramadan 2026.
"The raid on liquor in East Jakarta continues to be intensified. In the raid carried out in Duren Sawit District during Ramadan, 455 bottles of Miras were confiscated," said Deputy Head of Duren Sawit Sub-district, Andri Priwitama Maila, when confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Hundreds of bottles of liquor were confiscated from two grocery stores in different locations, namely on Jalan Nusa Indah, Malaka Jaya Village, and on Jalan Raya Pondok Kopi, Pondok Kopi Village, Duren Sawit District.
According to Andri, the raid was carried out as an effort to create a safe and conducive situation during Ramadan.
In addition, raids were also carried out to respond to public reports regarding the alleged circulation of illegal liquor in the area.
"The joint operation last night was carried out to provide a sense of security and comfort for Muslims who are carrying out the Ramadan prayers, and to keep East Jakarta always conducive," explained Andri.
The operation involved 57 joint personnel consisting of sub-districts, One-Stop Integrated Investment and Service (PM-PTSP), the Transportation Service Division, the Police Pamong Praja Unit (Satpol PP), as well as the TNI and Polri.
In the operation, said Andri, officers combed the location suspected of selling liquor without a license and conducted an inspection of merchandise in grocery stores.
From the results of the examination, the joint officers found hundreds of bottles of liquor of various brands stored in the store and were immediately secured for further processing.
Officers also provided guidance to business owners so that they no longer sell alcoholic beverages without official permission.
Andri emphasized that similar operations would continue to be carried out periodically during Ramadan and beyond to suppress the circulation of illegal liquor which has the potential to trigger public order disorders.
"We will continue to carry out joint operations to comb the circulation of liquor in other places that have not been revealed," said Andri.
He also appreciated the active role of the community in providing information regarding stalls or shops that sell illegal liquor.
He also assessed that collaboration between the police and residents was the key to keeping the environment safe.
Furthermore, Andri said that liquor raids were not merely enforcement of rules, but were part of efforts to protect young generations from the negative impacts of alcohol consumption.
This is because liquor is often a trigger for criminal acts and other deviant behaviors.
"This raid is also one of the efforts to protect our teenagers from consuming alcohol which can trigger other negative behaviors or criminal acts," said Andri.
Through this intensive Ramadhan raid, he hopes that the security and public order situation in East Jakarta will be maintained so that residents can carry out their worship with calm and piety.
