PT PAL Indonesia: Shipyard Consolidation Involves Local Maritime Support Industries

JAKARTA - PT PAL Indonesia will involve all local maritime support industries, alias domestic, in the process of consolidating the national shipyard. PT PAL Indonesia President Director, Kaharuddin Djenod, emphasized this in the Maritime Industry Strategic Discussion Chapter II, Friday evening. The discussion with the theme "United Transformed Unstoppable" was attended by hundreds of maritime support industry players.

As is known, the government through the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) appointed PT PAL Indonesia as the lead integrator of the national shipyard. "The assignment to PT PAL Indonesia is not to monopolize, but to build the quality of the entire maritime industry and its ecosystem together," said Kaharuddin.

According to him, the consolidation of the national shipyard is a momentum to optimize the potential of Indonesia's maritime needs so that it can be met independently. The fulfillment of the ship's needs, he said, is not only carried out by PT PAL Indonesia, but also involves all national shipyards and component industries.

"Hopefully, this consolidation can unite the vision and the steps together, including in building more concrete cooperation," said Kaharuddin.

He added that the consolidation of shipyards is not only about uniting the shipping industry, but also increasing the scale of economics to strengthen the maritime support industry, which is currently not optimally developed.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Industrialization BPI Danantara, Ardy Muawin, ensured that his agency fully supports PT PAL Indonesia's steps in encouraging national maritime industrialization. "We fully support, including in terms of funding, anchor projects, and strengthening institutional relations with related ministries and agencies," said Ardy.

Previously, PT PAL Indonesia had invited dozens of domestic shipyards in the Maritime Industry Strategic Discussion Chapter I on February 5, 2026. The results of the discussion with shipyards and supporting industries will be a reference for government policy in accelerating the consolidation of national shipyards in accordance with Prabowo Subianto's directions.
