Lampung - The High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Lampung has secured Rp100 billion in funds from one of the companies that is being investigated for alleged corruption in the use of forest areas for plantation purposes.
"However, we emphasize that the deposit of the money does not remove the criminal element and does not stop the ongoing legal process," said Head of the Lampung Attorney General's Office Danang Suryo Wibowo as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 25.
Previously, the company with the initials PT P sent a letter to the Head of the Lampung Prosecutor's Office regarding the request for resolution of legal problems. Furthermore, on Tuesday (10/2) PT P again submitted a letter of statement of placement of escrow funds.
In the letter, PT P stated that it had deposited a portion of the deposit of state financial losses of Rp. 100 billion. The funds have been deposited into the Lampung Regional Attorney General's Other Government Accounts (RPL).
Danang ensures that the deposit money will later be taken into account as part of the recovery of state losses after the case obtains final legal force.
"The Lampung Attorney General's investigators ensure that the handling of this case is carried out professionally, transparently, and accountable in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations," he said.
Danang stated that the Lampung High Prosecutor's Office was committed to completing the alleged corruption case and encouraging improvements in the governance of the utilization of forest and plantation areas with related parties.
"This is for the benefit and welfare of the community, especially in Lampung Province, as mandated by Article 33 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945," he said.
For information, the Lampung District Attorney's Office is conducting an investigation related to alleged criminal acts of corruption in the use and utilization of forest areas for plantations by a company with the initials PT P in an area managed by a state-owned enterprise with the initials PT I in Lampung Province.
