JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced that he would close the padel field business in Jakarta that did not have a building approval permit (PBG).

This is a result of complaints from the community who are disturbed by the operation of the commercial sports facility.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Department of Construction, Spatial Planning, and Land (Citata) Vera Revina Sari revealed that of the 397 padel fields currently operating in Jakarta, as many as 185 buildings or 45 percent did not have a PBG.

"Until February 23, 2026, 212 padel buildings have been recorded that have PBG and 185 padel buildings that do not have PBG," Vera told reporters, Wednesday, February 25.

Vera also ensured that hundreds of padel courts that do not have PBG issued by the DKI Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Service Agency (DPMPTSP) have not yet obtained a certificate of fitness for function (SLF).

"The next permit after PBG is SLF. PBG alone does not have it, it is impossible to apply for SLF," said Vera.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung revealed that his team would check the completeness of the license for all padel field businesses one by one and start giving sanctions if the permit is incomplete.

The decision was taken following various complaints from residents about the padel sports activities that are now mushrooming in Jakarta. Problems complained about by residents include noise, indiscriminate parking, to alleged violations of the licensing of a number of padel courts operating in residential areas.

"We suspect that there are, later the number will be confirmed by the Field Citata Office of padel courts that do not have permits or do not have PBG," said Pramono.

Meanwhile, for padel courts that have already received PBG but are in residential areas, the DKI Provincial Government cannot immediately close them. However, its operation will be limited to a maximum of 20.00 WIB.

"The padel field that already has a PBG but is in a residential area, then I decided and asked the Mayor, related parties, the Head of Sub-district, and so on, to negotiate with the residents and give a maximum time limit that can be used by the manager of the padel field. it must not be more than 08.00 pm," explained Pramono.

He emphasized that the provision applies to all padel courts in residential areas, even though they have a complete permit. In addition to limiting operating hours, Pramono admitted that noise was also a problem. Many residents complained about the sound of the ball bouncing and the players' screams that could be heard inside the house.

"If the padel court causes noise because the ball bounces, the screams that then disturb the community, then the padel court - padel court like that in the housing must make it soundproof. The reflection of the ball must not disturb the existing community," said Pramono.

Another problem that must be disciplined is the parking of visitors' vehicles which often crowd the neighborhood roads. According to Pramono, the lack of parking space makes vehicles park on the residential road.

"This parking, I'm sorry, this padel player is on average a person who has the ability to drive his own car. And they park it often in residential areas because there is no parking location, so the parking is random. It is very disturbing for residents. So those who are like that will also be disciplined," he said.
