West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police (Polda NTB) deployed tracking dogs from the K-9 detachment of the animal police unit to help patrol security activities in the Lembar Port area, West Lombok Regency.
Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Pol. Mohammad Kholid explained that the deployment of tracking dogs was part of the integrated security strategy in maintaining regional security stability on H+6 Ramadan Fast 2026 or Tuesday morning, February 24.
"So, the deployment of these tracking dogs is aimed at helping to detect dangerous materials and goods entering through the Lembar Port. This is an anticipatory step to ensure the safety and comfort of the community," he said in Mataram, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
"Like the patrol that took place early Tuesday morning, the police personnel invited the tracking dog to comb the port area, including vehicles and luggage that enter and exit the port area," he said.
In addition, Kholid explained that patrols were also expanded to residential areas around the port area as a form of strengthening security in the buffer area.
He revealed that Lembar Port is one of the vital sea transportation access points that connects Lombok Island with various areas in Indonesia.
"The high mobility of passengers and the distribution of goods make this area a strategic point that requires extra supervision," he said.
According to him, through routine patrols with the support of tracking dogs from the K-9 detachment, the NTB Police hopes that potential security threats can be prevented early on, as well as creating a sense of security and comfort for the community and port service users.
