JAKARTA - Rejection emerged from residents of the Kalideres District, West Jakarta, against the construction of two crematoria at once in their area. Residents assessed that the area was already densely populated and the presence of new buildings was feared to interfere with the activities of the surrounding community.
The spotlight also came from a member of the A Commission of the DKI Jakarta DPRD and also the Chairman of the PSI Faction, William Aditya Sarana. He reminded the provisions in the Regional Regulation which regulates the location of the construction of a cremation site.
"Based on Article 7 of the Regulation Number 7 of 2007 concerning Funeral, one of the considerations that must be taken by the governor in determining the place of cremation is that it is not located in a densely populated area," William told reporters, Tuesday, February 24.
The two crematoria in question are located in RW 06 Tegal Alur Village, near Taman Kencana, and in Kalideres Village, near Dian Harapan School. One of the construction points is in an area he calls a dense area.
He asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to pay more attention to the applicable spatial planning before issuing permits. In the spatial planning plan map, according to him, there is already a color classification that shows the allocation of areas.
"Well, in our spatial arrangement, there are color descriptions. The yellow color is a densely populated area. Meanwhile, the red color is the government office. Purple color, for example, is for commercial areas," he explained.
William also questioned the urgency of building two crematoria in close proximity in the same sub-district. He assessed that the existing land could be used for other needs that were more urgent for residents.
"Besides, what are we going to build 2 crematoria in close proximity. In fact, the land can be used to build other facilities and infrastructure that are more needed by the surrounding community," he added.
