Revitalization of Semanggi Park Started with a Cost of IDR 134 Billion, Pramono Ensures It Is Not from the APBD

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the groundbreaking for the revitalization of Semanggi Park, South Jakarta. Pramono targets that the revitalization of Semanggi Park can be completed on the 500th anniversary of the City of Jakarta.

Pramono admitted that the cost of revitalizing the park, which was left by the former Governor of DKI Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), required more than one hundred billion. However, the construction did not use the APBD.

"Hopefully on June 22, 2027, Jakarta will have a new showcase that will be better, which is called Semanggi. This place for its construction costs approximately Rp. 134 billion. That is entirely not from the APBD," said Pramono at Taman Semanggi, Friday, February 20.

The cooperation scheme is carried out with the private sector as a development partner. As compensation for investment, partners will manage the area for approximately 10 years, plus a construction period of one and a half years in the park with an area of approximately 6 hectares.

"Our partners, they will manage this place for about 10 years, plus the construction of one and a half years, so 11.5 years," he explained.

Pramono emphasized that the name Semanggi would not change even though it was managed by a private partner. However, he admitted that partners who poured in large funds still needed to benefit from the management of the area.

Pramono reviewed, the Semanggi area was the idea of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, in 1962. Four pieces of clover leaves at that time represented function, connectivity, transformation, and aesthetics and life.

This time, he said, the revitalization wants to bring back the idea so that it remains contextual with Jakarta's current needs. The concepts carried include the regeneration of ideas, reconnection, and activation of space (reactivation).

"This place will be connected to be easier, better, in a park of approximately 6 hectares," said Pramono.

"But most importantly, I have conveyed that this does not interfere with existing traffic. Because after all, this is the main transportation in Jakarta, the main showcase of Jakarta," he continued.
