BENGKULU - The Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot) has again disciplined a number of street vendors (PKL) who sell on the shoulders and bodies of roads along the Panorama Market area, Bengkulu City.

The order is a follow-up to the efforts to arrange the city government of Bengkulu to make the market area more orderly, neat, and comfortable for the community.

Head of the Bengkulu City Police Unit, Sahat Marilutua Situmorang, said the discipline was carried out to return traders who sold outside the market area to enter the location provided by the government.

"Today we are actively returning traders who sell outside to re-enter the market. As we know, the city government has cleaned and arranged the stalls inside the market, which should be occupied by traders," said Sahat in Bengkulu, Antara, Wednesday, February 18.

The city government has provided a decent place to sell in the market. Therefore, according to him, there is no reason for traders to continue to sell on the shoulders, bodies, and sidewalks.

Sahat added, according to the direction of the Mayor of Bengkulu Dedy Wahyudi, the government will no longer tolerate buying and selling activities outside the designated market areas.

"There will be no more term 56 market if traders still do not obey the applicable rules. Orderliness and compliance with regulations are a joint commitment to create better market governance," he said.

In addition, entering the month of Ramadan, the Bengkulu City Satpol PP continues to remind street vendors to comply with local regulations by not selling in prohibited areas.

To ensure that the rules are in place, Satpol PP will carry out regular supervision and enforcement without tolerance for traders who still violate by selling on the shoulders, bodies, and sidewalks.

Sahat hopes that the discipline carried out continuously can make the Panorama Market area more organized, traffic flows more smoothly, and the buying and selling activities take place safely and comfortably for all people.
