Police Secure a Homemade Gun from a Resident's House in Bone Kupang Village

KUPANG - The West Kupang Police, Kupang Police, secured a homemade firearm found at a resident's house in Bone Village, Nekamese District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

West Kupang Police Chief Syamsuddin Nor through Bhabinkamtibmas Bone Thomas Zakarias Village said that the homemade firearms were found in the attic of the kitchen of the late Fet Filmon Tasesab's house, specifically in RT 14/RW 07, Dusun IV, Bone Village.

"The homemade firearms were handed over by Rosnawati Tasesa (34), a local resident, to be secured at the West Kupang Police," Thomas said in Kupang, Antara, Wednesday, February 18.

He explained that the process of handing over the assembled weapons was also witnessed by the Head of Village IV, Bone Village, Oktofidoris Bilaut. Previously, Oktofidoris reported the findings to Bhabinkamtibmas on Sunday (15 February).

The discovery began when Maksi Tasesab (38) climbed into the attic of the deceased's house to pick up carpentry tools to repair the toilet roof. At that time, Maksi saw a homemade gun stored in the attic and immediately reported the findings to Rosnawati.

The report was then forwarded to the Head of Village IV and then reported to the police. Bhabinkamtibmas Bone Village together with the PS Kanit Intel of the West Kupang Police went to the location and secured the evidence to be taken to the West Kupang Police.

Rosnawati admitted that the homemade firearm was suspected to belong to her parents who died in 2023 and was estimated to be used for hunting during his life.

"The homemade weapon is suspected to belong to the parents of Rosnawati whose information was often used for hunting when he was alive," he said.

Currently, the homemade firearms have been secured at the West Kupang Police and will later be handed over to the Kupang Police for further handling.

The West Kupang Police asked the public who found illegal firearms or other dangerous items to immediately report to the nearest police to prevent misuse and maintain a conducive public security and order situation in the Nekamese area and its surroundings.
