JAKARTA - The Head of the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force for Sumatra, as well as the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, reported that President Prabowo Subianto provided assistance of around Rp72.7 billion for the distribution of beef to Aceh residents affected by the Sumatra disaster.

The report was delivered by Tito in a government evaluation and coordination meeting with the DPR at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 18.

"Then we also reported, the President provided assistance of Rp. 72 billion 750 million for the purchase of cows, meat distribution in 19 districts/cities in Aceh plus Simeulue, 18 plus Simeulue, because Simeulue had an earthquake yesterday," said Tito.

Tito revealed that the entire presidential assistance budget had been spent and the beef was ready to be distributed to Acehnese people who would carry out fasting tomorrow.

"This has been done by buying cows and we have issued a circular to be distributed today, one day before the fasting month, the point is that 3,042 villages, their citizens must get a share of beef," he said.

Apart from the presidential assistance related to food, Tito also reported assistance funds for disaster victims whose family members died. The death allowance for those who died, said Tito, will be given and distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).

"In addition, there is assistance for furniture and economic stimulants (as much as) Rp5 million, furniture Rp3 million. If it is severely damaged, they will automatically receive these two types of assistance, namely a total of Rp8 million," he said.

"Meanwhile, for those who are slightly and moderately damaged, economic stimuli can also be given, because their houses in the field may be moderately damaged, but the furniture is damaged, so they can be given Rp3 million in aid. Similarly, his house is slightly damaged but the fields are damaged, it can also be given economic aid of Rp. 3 million," explained Tito.

"Well this is what is in the data collection phase, which is light and medium houses but in the field, furniture, and stalls for example are damaged. This is what is being pursued by the local government. But those who are severely damaged automatically get furniture and economic costs," he added.

Tito hopes that this assistance fund will be immediately disbursed by the Ministry of Social Affairs to the disaster-affected people immediately and accurately. "We ask that the Minister of Social Affairs can execute the budget later," urged Tito.

Tito emphasized that for residents who do not want to live in temporary housing (huntara), they will be given a housing waiting fund (DTH) of Rp. 1.8 million for 3 months.

"In Aceh, it has been distributed as much as 93.87 percent, in North Sumatra 99.47 percent, in West Sumatra 97.17 percent. All of this is transferred by name by address according to the data that has been validated by the Central Bureau of Statistics," he concluded.
