BANDUNG - The Bandung City Police (Polrestabes) recorded as many as 1.5 million vehicles entering the city of Bandung, West Java during the 2026 Chinese New Year long holiday in the period of 13 - 15 February, which caused congestion on a number of major roads.

Head of the Bandung Police Traffic Police AKBP Hudi Arif said the number of vehicles entering was higher than the outgoing ones, so it had an impact on traffic density at a number of points.

"Starting from Friday to Sunday, vehicles entering Bandung City are approximately 1,500,000 more," said Huda, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 16.

Huda said that vehicles leaving Bandung City in the same period were recorded at around 1.3 million units.

Thus, he said, there was a difference of about 200 thousand vehicles that until Monday (16/2) were estimated to still be in the Bandung area and its surroundings.

He said the high volume of vehicles showed that Bandung was still one of the main destinations for people to spend long holidays, whether for tourism, shopping, or gathering with family.

According to him, on Monday morning, the flow of vehicles entering the City of Bandung was also observed to be increasingly dense, especially from outside the city, although in general the traffic conditions began to gradually normalize.

"We still urge road users not to park on the shoulder of the road. If they have been given a warning and still violate, of course we will take action," said Hudi.

To anticipate the continued density, the police still alert joint personnel from the Bandung Police, the ranks of the Polsek, and the support of the West Java Regional Traffic Directorate at a number of points prone to congestion.

"This coordination has been running and can help disperse traffic density, both in the City of Bandung and in the Lembang area," he said.
