JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto to prepare human resources (HR) that are in accordance with the needs of the fisheries industry.
This was conveyed by Brian after a limited meeting (ratas) with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Thursday, February 12.
"Earlier I was only part of preparing human resources because later many fishing industries will be opened," said Brian as reported by ANTARA.
Brian said he was asked to ensure that the human resources prepared had the ability to support the programs to be carried out by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
"I was asked to ensure that our human resources are capable and in accordance with the needs that will be carried out by the Minister of Environment and Forestry," he said.
President Prabowo chaired a limited meeting with a number of ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.
One of the meetings discussed accelerating the development of the Red and White Fishermen Village as well as strengthening the national fisheries industry ecosystem through the consolidation of shipyards and the development of downstream.
In addition to Brian, a number of officials also attended the limited meeting, including Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) and Danantara COO Dony Oskaria.
Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Head of the Poverty Eradication Acceleration Agency (BP Taskin) Budiman Sudjatmiko, and President Director of PT Pindad Sigit Puji Santosa.
Meanwhile, Head of BP BUMN Dony Oskaria explained that the Fishing Village will be part of an ecosystem managed through the BUMN PT. Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara (Persero).
"This is included in an ecosystem that will later be managed through Jaladri. So this is how we optimize the potential of our sea, so that Jaladri will focus on developing productivity in our fisheries industry," said Dony.
According to Dony, the development of fishing villages does not only stop at the physical aspect, but must also be prepared in terms of business, including the "offtake" of production results.
Dony also added that strengthening the shipyard industry is an important part of the strategy and expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries which has encouraged the growth of this industry.
The shipyard consolidation will be carried out under PT PAL as part of strengthening national capacity.
Dony ensured that the consolidation process was targeted to be completed in the near future and assessed that this step would open up new jobs, especially for graduates of shipping engineering and related sectors.
"Then also Jaladri will not only develop on the upstream side, but also the downstream. So later the industry derived from our fisheries will also be developed massively. Well, this growth in opening up employment will be very massive in the future," he said.
