JAKARTA - Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that more than 106 thousand participants of the National Health Insurance Premium Assistance (PBI JKN) who were deactivated had been reactivated by the government, especially those with catastrophic diseases.

In a conference after a limited meeting with the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar, Saifullah explained that the reactivation of PBI JKN membership for this group was temporary, for the next three months, while waiting for the results of field verification or ground check to ensure the eligibility of the recipients of assistance.

The check was carried out to ensure that the social and economic position of the beneficiaries was in accordance with the criteria for assistance recipients, namely being in desil 1 - 5 in the National Social Economic Single Data (DTSEN), or even being in desil 6 - 10 which was considered to be able to pay the fee independently.

"The results of the verification will determine whether participants still meet the criteria as recipients of the JKN PBI or are recommended to become independent participants," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 10.

He also revealed that the adjustment of the JKN PBI data had actually been carried out since 2025, in line with the implementation of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 4/2025 concerning the Utilization of the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) as a reference for the integration of social assistance data based on welfare rankings by BPS.

The Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed that by 2025 it had deactivated more than 13 million PBI JKN participants, with around 87 thousand participants applying for reactivation.

Meanwhile, some others have switched to being self-sufficient participants or are covered by local governments, especially in areas that have achieved Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

"The total national allocation for PBI JKN recipients remains at 96.8 million people, without reducing quotas. Adjustments are made through transfers from recipients who do not meet the criteria to families who are more entitled based on the latest data, that is the principle," said Saifullah.

Saifullah also reminded people who felt they still needed assistance to apply for reactivation through the local government and local social services, considering that the data on PBI JKN recipients is dynamic and is continuously updated according to the current social and economic conditions.
