Former Minister of SOEs Rini Soemarno-Former Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyasari is questioned by the KPK regarding the Migas Holding

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the holding of oil and gas (migas) in the corruption case of the gas sales cooperation between PT Perusahaan Gas Negara, Tbk (PGN) and PT Inti Alasindo Energi (IAE).

This investigation was carried out by examining the former President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati on Thursday, February 5 and the former Minister of SOEs Rini Soemarno a day later, Friday, February 6. Both were questioned in their capacity as witnesses.

"Witnesses are asked for information regarding the state-owned oil and gas holding company," KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters quoted on Monday, February 9.

As reported by a number of reports, the holding or parent company of the state-owned enterprise for oil and gas was established in 2018. The process is to combine PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) as a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk.

One of the reasons for the formation of this oil and gas holding company is to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Then, operating and investment costs can be suppressed to be in the range of US $8 - with the 2018 exchange rate.

Returning to Budi, Rini was asked about the process in her capacity as Minister of SOEs.

"Witness NW as the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) from 2018 to 2024," he said.

In addition, the process of the gas purchase and sale agreement between PT PGN and PT IAE was also investigated from a number of witnesses who were examined. They are Marta Kurniawan as ASN; Mohammad Alfansyah at the Sub-Directorate of Commercial and Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources since 2015-2018; Muhammad Wahid Sutopo as former Director of Strategy and Business Development of PT PGN, Tbk; Rainoc who is Assistant Deputy for Technology and Information of the Ministry of SOEs January 2024-now.

"The examination was carried out at the KPK's Merah Putih building," said Budi.

The KPK is known to be handling alleged corruption in the gas sales cooperation between PT PGN and PT IAE in the period 2017 to 2021. The state is said to have lost up to 15 million US dollars in this case.

Until now, the KPK has named four people as suspects and detained them. They are Hendi Prio Santoso, former President Director of PT PGN (2009-2017), detained October 2025; Arso Sadewo Tjokro Soebroto (AS), President Commissioner of PT IAE, detained October 2025; and Iswan Ibrahim (ISW): Former Commissioner of PT IAE, detained April 2025; Danny Praditya (DP), Former Commercial Director of PT PGN (2016-2019) who was detained in April 2025.
