PENAJAM PASER UTARA - At least 300 volunteers collected 885 kilograms of garbage in a number of natural tourist areas within the delineation of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) which are spread across Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.

Deputy for Environment and Natural Resources of the IKN Authority, Myrna Asnawati Safitri, said that the cleaning activities were carried out in order to commemorate the National Waste Care Day (HPSN) which is commemorated every February 21.

"Cleaning up the garbage is carried out to give meaning to National Waste Care Day," Myrna said when met in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, Antara, Monday, February 9.

The action to clean up the garbage was carried out simultaneously in three natural tourist areas in the IKN delineation area, namely Gunung Parung, Tembinus Waterfall, and Batu Dinding. This activity is also part of the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto's instructions regarding the ASRI movement with the community.

Myrna explained that these areas are potential natural tourist attractions that continue to be developed, so that aspects of cleanliness and environmental sustainability become the main factors in supporting sustainable tourism in the IKN area.

Around 300 volunteers involved are from various elements, including the IKN Authority, the community, the tourism awareness group, Bank Indonesia, PT ITCI Hutani Manunggal, the state civil apparatus of the Ministry of Health, to the Group 4 Special Forces Command (Kopassus).

"This cross-sector collaboration reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation in maintaining the environment," said Myrna.

He hopes that the cleaning activities can foster a culture of responsible tourism, both for the community and visitors, as well as strengthening the commitment to maintain cleanliness, natural sustainability, and environmental quality in the IKN area and its surroundings.

In addition to providing ecological benefits through waste reduction in tourist areas, this activity is also considered capable of increasing public awareness and strengthening collaboration between various parties in supporting the sustainable development of IKN.

From the results of the activity, the waste collected in the Tembinus Waterfall tourist area reached 585 kilograms, in Mount Parung as much as 165 kilograms, and in Batu Dinding as much as 135 kilograms. The collected waste consists of organic waste, inorganic waste, and residual waste that cannot be processed.

"This cleaning activity is also a means of education about how to travel responsibly," said Myrna.
