Prabowo Praises MUI Always Present in Difficult Times

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto praised the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for always being present in difficult times, including when several regions face flash flood and landslides, especially in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"MUI has never been absent every nation (Indonesia, ed) has experienced difficulties. Recently, we have seen MUI appearing from the first days of the disaster in several of our regions, in Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and also in several other provinces. MUI has never been absent from the difficult moments of the country," said President Prabowo during a briefing at the inauguration of the MUI 2025-2030 period managers at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Saturday, February 7, reported by ANTARA.

Therefore, the President also expressed his salutations to the Indonesian Ulema Council.

"I really appreciate, I salute the role and sense of responsibility of the Indonesian Ulema Council," said the President.

In the same event, in front of more than 58,000 participants, including ulama, President Prabowo also thanked MUI for consistently maintaining its role as a pillar that maintains the stability of the nation.

"The Indonesian Ulema Council has always taken a big and decisive role in the life of the nation and state. MUI has always been a pillar of stability, a pillar of calm, a pillar of coolness, a pillar of tolerance between all people and all religions," said President Prabowo.

Therefore, the President also hopes that the new MUI management can maintain its dignity, as well as its role as a pillar that maintains the stability of the nation.

"Hopefully the newly elected Indonesian Ulema Council will continue to serve the people and all the people of Indonesia. Once again, today is the symbol of the unity of ulama and umara in the Republic of Indonesia, and this is a guarantee of the revival of the Indonesian nation," said Prabowo.

According to the President, the unity shown by MUI today is important, because the Indonesian nation is still facing challenges.

"We admit, we must work together, be brave, determined to eliminate poverty from the Indonesian earth. We must not be afraid, we must not be afraid," said the President.

President Prabowo attended the inauguration and introduction (ta'aruf) of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) 2025-2030 period at the Istiqlal Mosque, and gave a briefing in front of tens of thousands of worshipers, consisting of the heads of pesantren, taklim assemblies, ulama and kiai.

In the acarayang which carries the theme "United in Prayer for the Nation's Safety", all participants also prayed together for residents in disaster-affected areas.
