Banyumas - The Banyumas City Police are investigating the oven explosion incident at the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of Krajan Village, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, Thursday, which resulted in dozens of workers being lightly injured.

Met on the sidelines of the crime scene, Head of the Pekuncen Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Slamet Husein, said that the Pekuncen Police personnel immediately came to the scene after receiving a report of a loud explosion from the SPPG area.
"After receiving information about loud noises, members immediately checked the location and indeed there was an explosion," he said, quoted by Antara.
He said based on the results of the initial examination, the explosion was suspected to have come from an oven or drying device used in the preparation activities of the SPPG kitchen.
"The device is suspected of overheating until it finally exploded," he said.
According to him, the explosion did not cause any casualties. However, around 22 people were reported to have suffered minor injuries due to glass shards and the impact of other objects around the scene of the incident.
"Most of the victims have been allowed to go home after receiving medical treatment. Currently, there are only two people who are still undergoing further examinations, one has a leg injury and one is suspected of having minor burns," he said.
Meanwhile, the head of the SPPG Krajan Village, Elvin Subekti, said the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program kitchen had not officially operated.
According to him, the activities that took place during the incident were a trial and operational preparation.
"This SPPG is not operational and has not served the distribution of food. Today's activity is a trial to clean the kitchen for the planned operational preparations on February 9," he said.
He said the activity involved all volunteers from various divisions, such as the cooking division, pre-washing, hygiene, security, and field assistants.
According to Elvin, the volunteers started their activities from 09.00 WIB and the explosion occurred at around 10.40 WIB during the drying process of the ompreng using an oven on the third day of the trial.
Two days earlier, the oven had been used and was functioning normally. As a result of the explosion, as many as 10 people were taken to the health center for medical treatment.
"Of these, eight people suffered minor injuries from glass shards, while two people were referred to the hospital for further treatment," said Elvin.
The head of Krajan Village, Muflichudin, said the sound of the explosion from the MBG kitchen was very loud, triggering panic among residents around the location.
In fact, the explosion was also heard by residents who were within a radius of one kilometer from the scene.
"It just so happens that there are posyandu activities with health services around the location. When the sound of a very loud explosion was heard, residents immediately ran outside the house," he said.
According to him, some residents thought the sound came from an electrical transformer or other activities before it was known to come from the SPPG area.
He ensured that the current environmental conditions of Krajan Village have returned to being conducive.
"All the victims have also received medical treatment as needed. Two victims who were referred to the hospital, namely Asiyati and Siti Marlina, residents of Krajan," he said.
