TANJUNG SELOR - The alleged fraud in the form of procurement of diesel fuel (BBM) has dragged the name of a headmaster in Bulungan Regency with the initials SP.

He was named a suspect along with his colleague MG, a resident of Tarakan, after allegedly causing the victim losses of around Rp1 billion.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Bulungan Police, AKP Rio Adi Pratama, revealed that the case began in early April 2023 when the fuel supplier, Hamdani, received an order for 20 tons of solar for the needs of PT Conda Pulingga Nusantara (CPN), a company said to be controlled by SP and MG with an initial transaction value of Rp. 320 million.

The order was delivered through an intermediary with the initials R who connected the victim with the company. The victim requires an official Purchase Order (PO) before the shipment is made. The PO was issued on April 4, 2023.

"Armed with the documents, the first phase of 20 tons of solar was sent to the Ardi Mulyo Village pier, North Tanjung Palas District, with an agreement to pay two weeks after the goods were received. However, until the deadline, the payment was not realized," said AKP Rio, Wednesday, February 4.

"When the billing was carried out on May 3, 2023, the suspect issued a new PO worth Rp. 340 million for the next 20 tons. Without the first installment, the victim again sent solar oil for a total of 40 tons," he continued.

Then, the demand for supplies continued on May 22, 2023. The two suspects asked for an additional 60 tons of solar with the promise that all arrears would be paid at once. With this order, the total value of the transaction swelled to around Rp. 1 billion.

"The company no longer shows good faith so the victim reported this case to the police. We process it as a suspected criminal act of fraud and/or embezzlement with the locus of the incident at the Ancam Port, Ardi Mulyo Village, North Tanjung Palas District," said Rio.

During the investigation process, the police also received information about another victim with a similar modus operandi. In fact, a member of the Bulungan DPRD was said to have also been a victim with a loss of around IDR 600 million.

"Members of the Bulungan DPRD are also victims in this case with a loss of approximately Rp. 600 million, but have not reported," he said.

Rio said the police received information about a report of a similar modus operandi that had been received at the National Police Headquarters and the Metro Jaya Police. It is suspected that there are still other victims outside Bulungan with a total loss estimated at billions of rupiah.

"We received information about a report at the National Police Headquarters and the Metro Jaya Police. Allegedly, there are still other victims with losses of billions of rupiah. We urge people who feel they are victims of similar modus to immediately report," he said.
