Commission II of the DPR asks the Regional Head to make a special program to 'fight' garbage

Member of Commission II of the House of Representatives, Indrajaya, supports President Prabowo Subianto's move to order regional leaders to wage a war against garbage throughout Indonesia.

He also asked regional heads throughout the region to make programs to succeed the president's direction.

According to Indrajaya, the waste problem has become a serious problem that has a direct impact on public health, environment, and quality of life. Therefore, he assessed, President Prabowo's steps were right and must be immediately followed up in a concrete manner by regional heads.

"President Prabowo Subianto's call to clean up garbage is a strategic and visionary step. This must be answered with concrete action in the region, not just discourse," said Indrajaya, Wednesday, February 4.

Indrajaya emphasized that regional heads must be proactive in handling waste issues in their respective regions.

According to him, the local government is not enough to rely on the relevant services, but needs to mobilize the entire government ranks to the lowest level and involve the community widely.

"Regional heads must mobilize ASN, regional officials, and the community to jointly clean up garbage and build a clean living culture. This is about leadership and example," he said.

In addition, Indrajaya also encourages each local government to launch a special program for sustainable waste cleaning and greening. "The program must have clear targets, adequate budgets, and measurable evaluation mechanisms," he said.

He also emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in waste management. According to him, regional heads need to work with the TNI, Polri, and BUMN to create new programs and breakthroughs, both in waste management, processing, and utilization.

"Cooperation with the TNI, Polri, and SOEs is very important to strengthen the execution in the field. We need a breakthrough so that waste is not only cleaned up, but also managed in a modern and economically valuable way," explained Indrajaya.

Indrajaya hopes that the synergy between the central and regional governments in the war against waste can create a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.

"At the same time, it will increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining cleanliness," he concluded.

ordering the district military commander (Dandim) to the military resort commander (Danrem) to deploy his subordinates to clean up the garbage.

The instruction was conveyed in the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of the Central Government and Regional Government, in Sentul, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday, February 2.
