Pink Whip Widely Abused, BNN: We Can't Monitor Its Circulation by Ourselves

JAKARTA - The Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Suyudi Ario Seto stated that the prevalence of the misuse of pink whip or Nitrous Oxide (N2O) gas by young people should be a concern for all parties. The reason is that BNN cannot work alone because Whip Pink is actually a supporting tool in the culinary world.

"The problem is that this pink whip, this gas is misused by our people or our children for euphoria, pleasure, which has a quick effect," said Suyudi at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 3.

According to him, the BNN cannot work alone in overseeing the circulation of the substance. Even so, he emphasized that the BNN would continue to coordinate with various stakeholders to tighten supervision.

"BNN RI of course also cannot work alone, we will continue to work together with other stakeholders to continue to monitor this circulation," he said.

Moreover, said Suyudi, until now the substance has not been included in the category of narcotics in regulation. However, according to him, because of the health risks, the circulation of Whip Pink needs to be seriously monitored.

"If this has a high stimulant effect, it can even result in a risk of death, of course, we must really monitor it in depth," he said.

Suyudi added, meanwhile, Whip Pink is still legally used for food and medicine. BNN, he said, is still studying whether the substance falls into the category of psychotropic or not.

"Well this is what we need to take care of and monitor so that it is not misused. The same is true for other substances that are dangerous, yes, for example like Etomidate. Yes, Etomidate is now included in the category of narcotics yes, in accordance with the Ministry of Health Decree number 15 of 2025, yes, which can be included in, for example, electronic cigarettes," said Suyudi.

"Yes, this is also a very dangerous thing that can have an impact on our community if it is misused, yes, like that," he continued.

Regarding whether BNN will take action against sellers of Whip Pink freely, Suyudi is still seeing the current developments.

"Yes, we will see what it will be like," he concluded.
