57.7 hectares of forest fires in West Aceh, 41.4 hectares have been successfully handled.

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has confirmed that the area of forest and land fires (karhutla) that can be handled by the joint team has reached 41.4 hectares of the total land fire area, which has reached 57.7 hectares in West Aceh Regency.

"Alhamdulillah, the area of the forest fire that has been handled reaches 41.1 hectares," said Acting Head of the West Aceh Regency BPBD Teuku Ronald in Meulaboh, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

The area of land that has been successfully extinguished, including in Johan Pahlawan District, covering Suak Raya Village with an area of 9.5 hectares, Lapang Village (Ujung Beurasok) with an area of 8.5 hectares, Suak Nie Village with an area of 9 hectares, and Aron Baroh Village in Woyla District with an area of 0.5 hectares.

In Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency, the land fire area which has now been completely handled, including in Alue Peunyareng Village with an area of 1 hectare, Ujong Tanoh Darat Village (location 1) with an area of 0.5 hectares and two locations with an area of 0.5 hectares.

Then, in Blang Luah Village, West Woyla District, West Aceh Regency, a large area of forest and land fires that had been successfully handled was 3.9 hectares, and in Meunasah Rambot Village, Kaway XVI District, an area of land that had been successfully extinguished was 8.5 hectares.

BPBD West Aceh noted that temporarily the area of land fires that currently remain around 16.3 hectares is left in a number of sub-districts in the local regency.

The elements involved in the efforts to extinguish the land fires in West Aceh, including the personnel of the West Aceh BPBD Damkar Mako, the Woyla Sub-district Damkar personnel, the Meureubo Sub-district Damkar personnel, the Kaway XVI Sub-district Damkar personnel, the Arongan Lambalek Sub-district Damkar personnel.

Then, the Manggala Agni Sibolangit personnel of the Dalkarhut Sumatera Office, TNI soldiers from Kodim 0105 West Aceh, TNI soldiers from Yonif 116 Garda Samudra, West Aceh Police personnel, personnel of the Aceh IV Regional Police, personnel of the Aceh Provincial DLHK, and the community around the fire location.

Teuku Ronald said the strong wind blowing at the location of the fire caused the extinguishing efforts to be hampered, and the lack of water sources around the location of the fire also became a challenge for officers in carrying out fire extinguishing efforts at each location.
