Prabowo: MBG reaches 60 million recipients, 99.99 businesses declared successful

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the statistics of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program showed a figure of 0.008, while responding to doubts about the potential for poisoning in the national-scale program.

"The statistics are 0.008... This means that 99.99 MBG businesses must be declared successful," said Prabowo at the Central and Regional Government Rakornas in Sentul, Bogor, Monday, February 2.

He said MBG had reached 60 million beneficiaries. The program is carried out through 22,275 SPPG kitchens that are operational, as well as 13,829 kitchens in the process of submission in various regions.

"Many predicted that it would fail, there would be thousands of poisonings," he said.

Prabowo compared the risk to the events that could occur in daily eating activities.

"We eat in restaurants, we can get poisoned," he said.

In his presentation, he said that the total food produced reached 3.7 billion servings. He added that this program has received attention from abroad.

"The White House is studying our MBG," he said.

The government targets that the reach of beneficiaries will be expanded to 82 million people by December 2026.

It is known that not long ago, as many as 118 high school students at State High School 2 Kudus, Central Java, experienced a keracubnan after eating Free Nutritious Food (MBG). Citing BBC Indonesia, throughout January 2026, the Indonesian Education Monitoring Network (JPPI) recorded 1,242 people suspected of being victims of MBG poisoning in various regions. The total number of MBG poisoning victims from 2025 to early 2026 reached 21,254.
