Bobby Nasution Immediately Frees Bedera-Babura River Normalization Land To Overcome Flood

MEDAN - The Medan City Government, North Sumatra, is ready to acquire land in the Bedera and Babura River watersheds for this year's river normalization program to anticipate flooding in Medan City.

"We are ready to tackle social problems, related to land acquisition in watersheds to overcome the flood problem," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Monday, May 31.

President Jokowi's son-in-law explained that the Medan City Government had prepared a budget of Rp. 25 billion for land acquisition in the two rivers.

Mayor Bobby Nasution also said his party was waiting for recommendations for land acquisition points and technical drawings carried out by consultants.

"For the land acquisition budget, we are ready. In fact, this year, we have prepared a budget of Rp. 25 billion. But, the point is, we follow the recommendations of the consultants," said Bobby.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Medan City Settlement and Spatial Planning Department of Housing, Benny Iskandar, hopes that the consultant's studies can be more detailed, so that steps are taken to deal with flooding.

He said that the Medan City Government also hopes that there will be certainty of time, there are indicators of point reduction, reduction of area, and reduction of flood intensity.

"From the technical drawings, it can be seen how wide the shape is, the parcels that are affected, and which side of the grooves," said Benny.
