Jokowi will consolidate voters in other political parties for PSI

JAKARTA - The executive director of Aljabar Strategic Indonesia, Arifki Chaniago, assessed that the statement of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to support the total PSI marked a 'gas-to-gas' step to strengthen the political foundation of the party led by Kaesang Pangarep ahead of the 2029 Election.

"Jokowi wants to ensure that PSI has a strong real network down to the regions. This is a reflection of PSI's failure in the 2024 election, which did not pass to parliament because the vote base in the regions was weak. PSI is strong in urban areas, but has not taken root in rural areas," he said, Sunday, February 1.

According to him, Jokowi's direction is an important concern so that PSI is able to penetrate the parliament in the 2029 election. In addition, Arifki also suspected that Jokowi would consolidate his voters over the past decade, who are now spread across various parties, to be directed to support PSI.

Jokowi, he said, certainly wants to take the PDI Perjuangan voter niche who supported him in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections. "It is very possible that PDIP voters will be eroded, because after all Mr. Jokowi has been part of PDIP," he added.

As is known, Jokowi was present in person at the 2026 PSI National Congress which was held in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Jokowi gave direct instructions to the party led by his youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep. In his speech, Jokowi stated that he was ready to get off the mountain solely for PSI. In fact, he expressed his willingness to go to the grassroots to strengthen the party's structure.

"I am still able to come to the provinces, all provinces. I am still able to come to regencies/cities. I am still able. I am still able if I continue to the sub-district, I am still able," he said.

Jokowi stated that Indonesia currently has 38 provinces, 514 regencies/cities, and around 7,000 sub-districts. The vastness of Indonesia's territory is said to still be visited for PSI. Therefore, he also asked PSI cadres to work militantly. Because, the hard work of all the managers will also motivate him to fight for PSI.
