Malang City Police are investigating a motorcycle theft case in a residential area in Blimbing District, which is suspected to have been committed by children.
"Currently (motorcycle theft) is being investigated by the Blimbing Police," said Head of Public Relations Section of Malang City Police, Ipda Lukman Sobikhin, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 30.
The motorcycle that was stolen belonged to a resident named Andika (26). The location of the incident was on Jalan Industri Timur Kampung Baru RT 6 RW 5.
Andika said he only found out that his two-wheeled vehicle was missing shortly after returning from work, on Wednesday (28/1) at around 08.00 WIB.
"My motorcycle is indeed I put in a public parking lot along with several other motorcycles belonging to residents, when I wanted to use it it turned out that I didn't have it," he said.
Knowing that his vehicle was missing, the victim immediately checked the CCTV footage installed at one point and not far from the location of the public parking lot.
"They are the same age as elementary and junior high school students, they came with a motorcycle and stopped in the alley," he said.
Because the two children stopped for quite some time, one of the residents approached them and asked what their purpose was.
One of the suspected perpetrators admitted that he was looking for his friend's house and ended up getting lost in the victim's residence.
Andika said the residents had shown the direction according to the intended purpose, but not long after the two children returned to the original location.
Based on the results of monitoring from CCTV footage, it was found that the theft of a motorcycle, which was allegedly committed by children, occurred on Tuesday (21/1), around 21.00 WIB.
In the video broadcast which has also gone viral on social media, showing the condition of the settlement when the alleged theft took place, it was quiet from the activities of residents.
Initially, one of the children wearing black clothes was busy watching the situation around. Suddenly, another person who was also suspected to be a child wearing a gray jacket entered the public parking area.
Not long after, he was seen carrying out a motorcycle with a blue-colored housing or "lamp shell" and a black-colored body towards the exit of the settlement towards the highway.
When heading to the gate, one of the suspected perpetrators was seen running while another was caught pushing a stolen vehicle.
