Golkar encourages women to lead the DPR, Bahlil assigns Adies Kadir to the Constitutional Court

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia said women have the same right to occupy strategic positions. He said Golkar not only placed women at the commission level, but directly in the chair of the DPR leadership.

Bahlil made the statement when explaining the appointment of Golkar Party General Treasurer, Sari Yuliati, as Deputy Speaker of the DPR to replace Adies Kadir.

"Golkar is an inclusive party. Every cadre has the same rights. Women also have rights, man," said Bahlil at the Presidential Palace Complex, Wednesday, January 28.

He said the push for women's representation was in line with the Constitutional Court's decision to encourage a 30 percent proportion of women in public office.

At the same time, Bahlil stated that Golkar released Adies Kadir to carry out his duties as a Constitutional Court Judge. He emphasized that the process was carried out with Adies' resignation from the party's management and membership before the appointment.

"We dedicate the best cadres to the country," he said.

According to Bahlil, the resignation letter was received several days before the appointment. Since the nomination process, Adies is said to no longer be a cadre or party manager. This step, he said, is important because the Constitutional Court judge must be independent.
