JEMBER - The Jember Police have secured 110 two-wheeled motor vehicles suspected of being used for illegal racing in a number of locations in Jember Regency, East Java.
Head of the Jember Police Traffic Unit, AKP Bernardus Bagas Simarmata, said the action targeted traffic violations in the form of the use of exhausts that did not comply with technical specifications and vehicles that were not equipped with Motor Vehicle Number Plate (TNKB).
"We are back to taking action against traffic violations, especially the use of exhaust that does not comply with technical specifications and vehicles that are not equipped with TNKB," said Bernardus at the Jember Police Traffic Post, Antara, Monday, January 26.
He explained that the action was taken in response to public complaints regarding the noise of brong exhaust sounds that are often used in illegal racing in a number of points in the Jember area.
"In addition, vehicles without identity that disturb other road users are also not spared from the target of the officers' action," he said.
According to Bernardus, the enforcement activities are a sustainable step to increase traffic awareness and at the same time have a deterrent effect on violators.
"Our enforcement is carried out to maintain the comfort and safety of road users. This is part of the commitment to create security, safety, order, and traffic flow," he said.
He added that the use of exhaust that does not comply with specifications causes noise, while vehicles without TNKB make it difficult to identify and have the potential to cause disturbances to public safety and order.
"Until the last week, the total number of two-wheeled vehicles that have been secured has reached 110 units. Violations found include vehicles that do not meet specifications, including brong exhaust, as well as vehicles that are not equipped with TNKB," said Bernardus.
All vehicles are currently secured at the Jember Police Satlantas Post to undergo further processes in accordance with applicable regulations.
The Jember Police also appealed to the public, especially motorcyclists, to always comply with traffic rules, use vehicles according to manufacturer specifications, and complete vehicle documents and identity for the sake of safety.
"We also appeal to the owners of workshops and motorcycle accessories stores to be more selective in serving buyers, especially regarding the sale of exhausts," said Bernardus.
