BPBD Targets Refugees in Pidie Jaya Aceh to Be Relocated to Huntara Before Ramadan 2026

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh Province, has accelerated the process of relocating refugees from tents to temporary housing (huntara).

Head of the Pidie Jaya Regency BPBD Muhammad Nur said his party targeted all refugees in tents could be relocated before the holy month of Ramadan.

"Currently, the construction of temporary housing is being carried out in several areas in Pidie Jaya Regency. We hope that the construction of temporary housing can be completed as soon as possible, so that flood refugees can be relocated immediately before Ramadan," he said when contacted from Banda Aceh, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

Apart from relocation, he said, his party also ensured the distribution of logistics, including basic necessities for people affected by the flash flood disaster, continued to be carried out to the evacuation points.

"Distribution of logistics such as basic necessities and others to evacuation points is still ongoing, including other services for disaster victims, such as health and clean water," said Muhammad Nur.

Meanwhile, Armiati, a flood victim in Meunasah Krueng Village, Gampong Manyang Cut, Meureudu District, Pidie Jaya Regency, some residents in the area are still staying in evacuation tents. Residents have not been able to return to their respective homes, because they are still buried in mud.

"Currently, the basic needs and clean water of the displaced residents are dwindling. We also haven't received certainty about when they will be relocated to temporary housing. A total of 21 families from this hamlet have been recorded to be in temporary housing," said Armiati.

Based on data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Emergency Response Command Post in Aceh, residents affected by the disaster in Pidie Jaya Regency reached 82,922 people from 22,973 heads of households (HH) with evacuation points spread across 38 locations.
