SERANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Serang Regency, Banten Province, reported that as many as 625 residents from 187 heads of households (KK) are still staying in evacuation due to the hydrometeorological disaster that hit the area until Wednesday, January 21 evening.
The Head of the BPBD, Serang Regency, Ajat Sudrajat, in Serang, Wednesday, said that the refugees are currently occupying four active evacuation locations spread across Padarincang, Binuang and Carenang Districts.
"The highest concentration of refugees is in Kadubereum Village, Padarincang District, namely 145 KK or 430 people who occupy the Raudathul Janah Madrasah building," said Ajat, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 21.
Apart from Padarincang, refugees are also still recorded in Binuang District, specifically in Cakung Village with 147 people and Renged Village with 27 people. Meanwhile, in Carenang District, there are 21 people from Mekarsari Village who have fled to Mushola As-Sobirin.
Ajat explained that residents use safe public facilities from waterlogging as temporary shelters, such as mosques, mushala, and elementary schools.
Although hundreds of residents are still staying in the evacuation, BPBD noted a trend of residents who have started to return home. A total of 328 people or 82 households have reportedly left the evacuation as the situation in several points is conducive.
He explained that the hydrometeorological disasters that occurred included three main types of events, namely floods, landslides, and strong winds or fallen trees.
"This incident spread to 77 villages in 25 sub-districts. Flooding was the most dominant event that hit 23 sub-districts, followed by strong winds in eight sub-districts, and land movement in five sub-districts," he said.
To ensure the comfort and health of residents who are still displaced, the Serang Regency BPBD continues to strive to meet urgent needs at the evacuation location.
"The urgent needs that we distribute include ready-to-eat food, clean water, medicine, blankets, family kits, to baby supplies," he said.
