JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian has encouraged the acceleration of the realization of the return of the Regional Transfer (TKD) of Rp. 10.6 trillion for regional governments (Pemda) in three disaster-affected provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).
Tito also encouraged areas that were not directly affected to utilize the return of TKD for preventive and risk control measures, including maintaining the stability of prices and people's purchasing power. This step is taken to accelerate the post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction process in the region.
"For other areas that are not affected by disasters, please use this allocation to anticipate disaster prevention and also the impact of disasters in the area," said Tito in his statement as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 21.
This was conveyed by Tito when leading the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for the Allocation of Additional TKD and its Utilization and Discussion of Budget Allocation for Light and Moderate Damaged Houses which was held virtually from Batam City, Riau Islands.
The Minister of Home Affairs explained that the decision to return the TKD was the result of a meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto and attended by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa which was held on Saturday (17/1). In the meeting it was decided to return the TKD for all districts/cities in the three affected provinces.
"Political decisions have been made by the President at the meeting in Hambalang and this is final. This means that we all as executors, please let's all execute [well]," he said.
He emphasized that the return of the TKD was not only given to the areas that were directly affected, but included all districts/cities in the three provinces to strengthen the fiscal capacity of the Regional Government in responding to emergency conditions.
"The point is to help these disaster areas by strengthening their fiscal capacity," said Tito.
The Minister of Home Affairs asked that the realization of the first phase of the return of TKD be immediately disbursed so that the Regional Government can immediately meet urgent needs in the field.
