JAKARTA - The Central Java Gerindra Party DPD spoke up in response to the hand-catching operation (OTT) carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against Pati Regent Sudewo who has the status of a party cadre.

The chairman of the Central Java Gerindra Party DPD, Sudaryono, in a statement in Semarang, stated that his party was still waiting for the official results of the KPK's investigation regarding the arrest of Regent Sudewo.

He emphasized that the Gerindra Party fully respects the ongoing legal process and leaves the handling of the case to law enforcement officials.

"We respect the legal process being carried out by the KPK. Currently we are still waiting for the results of the official examination," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 20.

According to him, the principle of presumption of innocence must still be prioritized until there is a legally binding decision.

All parties, he said, need to be wise and not rush to draw conclusions.

"Every citizen has the same status in the eyes of the law. We leave it entirely to the KPK to work professionally, transparently, and according to the rules," he said.

However, Sudaryono also stated that the Gerindra Party was committed to supporting efforts to eradicate corruption and enforce fair laws, including for party cadres.

He hopes that the legal process of the case can run smoothly without intervention from any party.

"We fully support the law enforcement measures taken by the KPK to maintain public trust and legal certainty in Indonesia," he said.

Regarding the political impact in the region, Sudaryono said that the DPD Gerindra Jateng would be cooperative and follow the official developments from the KPK before taking further steps.

"For organizational and political steps, of course we will wait for the results and legal facts that are officially presented," he concluded.

Previously, the KPK announced that it had arrested Pati Regent Sudewo (SDW) in the third hand-in-hand operation in 2026.

After being secured in OTT, Sudewo was immediately taken to Jakarta on Monday (19/1) evening to undergo further examination by KPK investigators.
