KAI cancels again the Kamandaka and Purwojaya train journeys due to flooding

PURWOKERTO - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operation 5 Purwokerto again canceled the Kamandaka and Purwojaya trains due to flooding that inundated a number of tracks in the Jakarta Regional Operation (Daop) 1 and Semarang Daop 4 areas.

"Based on the latest operational evaluation, for today's departure, KAI Purwokerto has again canceled the journey of KA 181 Kamandaka, KA 194 Kamandaka, and KA 197 Kamandaka relations Semarang Tawang-Purwokerto/Cilacap going home (PP)," said Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto M As'ad Habibuddin in Purwokerto, Central Java, Antara, Monday, January 19.

According to him, the cancellation was also re-enforced for the Purwojaya KA 50F, Purwojaya KA 53F, Purwojaya KA 58F, and Purwojaya KA 57F relations between Gambir-Cilacap PP.

In addition to cancellation, KAI also implemented an engineering pattern of operation with a detour route on a number of long-distance trains that pass through and are connected to the KAI Purwokerto area to ensure that travel continues safely.

In this case, trains from Surabaya/Malang/Jember to Jakarta via Semarang Tawang-Gundih-Solobalapan-Purwokerto-Cirebon include KA 3 Argo Bromo Anggrek relations Surabaya Pasarturi-Gambir, KA 31 Pandalungan relations Jember-Gambir, KA 37 Brawijaya relations Malang-Gambir, KA 41 Sembrani relations Surabaya Pasarturi-Gambir, KA 91 Jayabaya relations Malang-Pasarsenen, KA 95 Harina relations Surabaya Pasarturi-Bandung, KA 163 Gumarang relations Surabaya Pasarturi-Pasarsenen, KA 165 Dharmawangsa Express relations Surabaya Pasarturi-Pasarsenen, KA 245 Majapahit relations Malang-Pasarsenen, and KA 253 Kertajaya relations Surabaya Pasarturi-Pasarsenen.

Furthermore, As'ad said that the cancellation and engineering of the operation pattern was carried out as a proactive step to ensure the safety and security of train travel.

"Customer safety is KAI's top priority. We continue to carry out intensive monitoring and thorough technical inspections of the condition of the line affected by the flood," he said.

Regarding the engineering of the operating pattern, he said KAI had prepared a service recovery service for customers affected by travel disruptions as a form of service responsibility to service users.

In addition, he said KAI Purwokerto also apologized to all customers for the inconvenience caused by the extreme weather conditions, especially those that have an impact on the cancellation of the Kamandaka and Purwojaya train trips.

As a form of corporate responsibility, he continued, KAI provides a 100 percent refund of ticket fees in accordance with applicable regulations.

According to him, the return of the ticket fee can be made no later than seven days from the date of cancellation through the Purwokerto, Kroya, Cilacap, and Kutoarjo Station ticket offices, as well as through the Contact Center 121, including call and VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services on the Access by KAI application.

"As the handling process continues, KAI is committed to providing information periodically to the public and appreciates the patience and cooperation of customers in the midst of these extreme weather conditions," said As'ad.

Previously, the cancellation of the Kamandaka and Purwojaya train trips was also carried out by KAI Purwokerto on Sunday (18/1), as an impact of flooding that inundated a number of tracks in the Semarang and Jakarta KAI areas.
