OGAN KOMERING ULU - Members of the Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police, South Sumatra (Sumsel), dismantled the cockfighting gambling arena in Banuayu Village, Lubuk Batang District, because it disturbed the community in that area.

The OKU AKBP Police Chief, Endro Aribowo, in Baturaja, Friday, said that information about the activity of cockfighting gambling in Banuayu Village was based on a report from the local community received by his party on Thursday (15/1).

Armed with this information, his party conducted an investigation and immediately moved to raid the location of the cockfighting arena.

"The raid carried out today is an effort to eradicate gambling and maintain public safety," he said.

However, he said, when officers arrived at the location of the cockfighting gambling, the perpetrators had fled.

Although they did not find the perpetrators, he continued, the police still took firm steps by dismantling all the facilities used for cockfighting.

Officers demolished the huts and facilities used as gambling facilities and facilities at the location.

"The demolition of this cockfighting gambling arena is a form of commitment by the OKU Police in maintaining public order and security," he said.

The Police Chief emphasized that his party would increase surveillance and routine patrols around the gambling location to prevent the activity of cockfighting gambling from reappearing later.

"We also ask the public to immediately report to the local police if there are cockfighting gambling activities in their respective areas," he said.

The OKU Police are committed to continuing to eradicate all forms of community diseases to provide a sense of security and comfort, especially ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 2026.
