SEMARANG - The KA line in Central Java Pantura between Kaliwungu and Kalibodri Stations, Kendal Regency, was temporarily disrupted due to flooding following heavy rain that hit the area since Thursday (15/1) evening.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang Luqman Arif said that the overflow of water caused the track to be submerged to the limit of the rail head.

As a result of this condition, he said, the journey of a number of trains from west to east and vice versa had to be temporarily stopped.

"The flood ended the road between Kaliwungu and Kalibodri," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 16.

According to him, KAI officers continue to work to handle the impact of the overflow of water so that train travel can return to normal.

Meanwhile, the journey of a number of trains, including those between Semarang Poncol Station, Weleri Station, and Kaliwungu Station, is still stalled.

Luqman said the KA line between Kaliwungu and Kalibodri stations could be crossed again on Friday morning following the start of rainfall and the repairs that had been carried out.

He said the reopened line could be crossed by trains at a maximum limited speed of 30 km per hour.

"Officers are still continuing to make improvements so that train travel can soon return to normal," he said.

The delay in train travel due to the incident reached 6 to 123 minutes.

PT KAI, said Luqman, apologized to customers affected by the inconvenience of the train journey.
