MEDAN - The North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Sumut) detained the President Director of PT Prima Alloy Steel Universal (PASU) with the initials JS in the alleged corruption case for the sale of aluminum alloy from 2018 to 2024.
Acting Head of the Legal Information Section of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, Indra Ahmadi Hasibuan, said the detention was carried out after investigators found at least two pieces of evidence that were sufficient to establish JS as a suspect.
"The determination and detention of the suspect JS is an expansion of the case being handled by investigators. Previously, three other suspects had been detained earlier on December 17 and 22, 2025," said Indra as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 13.
He explained that the case was suspected of being a criminal act of corruption in the sale of aluminum alloy by PT Indonesia Aluminium (Inalum) to PT PASU which was carried out in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.
The suspect JS, he said, was suspected of jointly changing the payment scheme for the purchase of aluminum alloy, which was originally using the cash and Domestic Document Credit (SKBDN) system, into a Document Against Acceptance (D/A) scheme with a tenor of 180 days.
However, after the aluminum alloy was sent by PT Inalum, the payment was allegedly not made by PT PASU, resulting in a loss of state finances estimated at around US$8 million or equivalent to Rp133.49 billion.
"The exact value of state losses is still in the process of calculation," he said.
Indra said that for his actions, the suspect JS was charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) of Article 3 juncto Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, Juncto Article 603 Juncto Article 604 Juncto Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
After undergoing a health examination, said Indra, investigators detained the suspect JS for the first 20 days at the Tanjung Gusta Medan Detention Center.
"Investigators will continue to investigate the case and do not rule out the involvement of other parties, both individuals and corporations," said Indra.
