JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya has carried out traffic engineering by allowing two-wheeled vehicles to access the toll road due to high flooding.
"The Traffic Police Road Patrol Unit (PJR) of the Metro Jaya Police conducted traffic engineering for two-wheeled vehicles to enter the toll road," said Kasat PJR Traffic Police of the Metro Jaya Police, Kompol Dhanar Dono Vernandie, in his statement in Jakarta, Monday.
He explained that there were two toll roads that could be entered by two-wheeled vehicles. First, the Sunter Toll Gate which leads to the Kebon Bawang exit. Second, from the 31 Bridge Toll Gate and exit at Angke.
"Why are we doing this? Because in the arteries, on Yos Sudarso Street and Pluit Raya, there is a puddle and it cannot be passed by two-wheeled vehicles, so we provide public services in the form of traffic engineering to direct two-wheeled vehicles to the toll road," said Dhanar.
He added that the duration of the activity was around 20 minutes, and currently the situation has returned to normal.
"From the traffic engineering incident, we report that there were no traffic accidents or disturbances or other things," said Dhanar.
On the other hand, he mentioned that long traffic jams had occurred in various corners of the capital because of the water that flooded the access to the toll gate.
"If it is crowded, it is Podomoro, Sunter, which comes out, it is because the artery is flooded, so the vehicles are crowded on the toll road," said Dhanar.
Based on police reports, the most severe flood point was observed in the Rawa Bokor area with a water height of 60 centimeters (cm), so officers had to massively divert vehicle traffic.
"It was severe in Rawa Bokor, 60 cm high, then we did engineering, for those who want to leave Rawa Bokor, we straightened the airport. If at the Plumpang exit, Priok 1, the sedan can't pass, but the minibus can still pass," said Dhanar.
Even though the arterial road is blocked, he ensured that the Inner City Toll road is still safe from puddles and can be passed by vehicles.
"Intercity toll roads are still free of disruption, still safe, only two points at Wiyoto Wiyono and Sedyatmo," said Dhanar.
