Director General Fauzan emphasized the importance of building an Indonesian-Japanese partnership in a long-term framework, in line with the vision of strengthening the research and innovation ecosystem for the next decade, the focus of this cooperation is directed at strategic areas, including biofuels and sustainable technologies, in line with NEDO's current research priorities.

Meanwhile, the Rector of ITB Tatacipta Dirgantara conveyed that the collaboration between Indonesia and Japan started from long-term academic collaboration which is now strengthened through sustainable research cooperation.

He gave an example of the development of a catalysis biofuel plant with Pertamina as a form of research directed at the implementation and needs of future energy.

"Environmentally friendly energy is the direction of global energy development, and cross-country, industry, university, and government collaboration is the key to making research a real benefit for future generations," he said.

NEDO Executive Director Kikuo Kishimoto assessed that this meeting was productive and confirmed Japan's commitment to sharing technological knowledge to support Indonesia's development, as well as building a sustainable and positive two-way collaboration for both countries.

"We want to build a collaboration that not only shares technology, but also grows together to face future challenges," he said.

As part of the series of activities, the delegation also visited a number of research facilities and laboratories in the ITB environment to see firsthand the capacity of infrastructure, research activities, and support for the research ecosystem in the development and downstream of science and technology innovation.

This forum is focused on accelerating more applied research collaboration in the field of biofuels and sustainable energy, in line with the energy transition agenda and strengthening the competitiveness of national industries.
