Panji's Political Humor Questioned, Social Activist Files Ethics Somasi

JAKARTA - The stand-up comedy stage action performed by comedian Panji Pragiwaksono reaped pros and cons among the public. The political humor material he brought was considered to trigger debate and critical response from various circles.

Responding to the controversy, social change activist and Dharma Pongrekun spokesperson, Ikhsan Tualeka, sent an open ethical summons to Panji Pragiwaksono on Wednesday, January 8. The summons was given a deadline of 14 days.

Ikhsan hopes that Panji can provide clarification to the public. According to him, this step is important as a form of respect for differences of opinion and political choices in the public sphere.

"We convey this ethical summons so that the person concerned can provide an explanation to the public," said Ikhsan in his statement.

He assessed that criticism of Panji's stand-up comedy material continues to grow. Initially seen as social and political criticism, but later judged to have shifted from criticism of ideas or policies to statements that have the potential to undermine the political choices of some citizens.

Ikhsan also said that Panji's statement in his stage performance was considered to offend certain groups of voters, especially around 10% of Dharma Pongrekun voters in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Election.
