JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) stated that it was in the process of adjusting the ad hoc judge allowance which was later protested because it did not participate in the increase in Government Regulation (PP) Number 42 of 2025.
"The leadership of the Constitutional Court conveyed the adjustment of the amount of the ad hoc judge's financial rights in the current process and we are both trying and praying that it will be realized in the near future," said Constitutional Court Spokesperson Yanto at a press conference reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 8.
Later, the ad hoc judge planned to protest because the nominal allowance was not increased as career judges, following the issuance of PP 42/2025 concerning the Financial Rights and Facilities of Judges under the Supreme Court.
The ad hoc judge expressed concern over the allowance, which was considered not to have increased since 2013. In this regard, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sunarto advised ad hoc judges throughout Indonesia to remain clear-headed and act wisely.
Yanto explained that the leadership of the Constitutional Court together with the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform, and the Ministry of Finance is currently discussing the proposal for adjusting ad hoc judges' allowances.
The head of the Constitutional Court, he added, had held a meeting with the Ministry of PANRB, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights on Wednesday (7/1). The meeting was to discuss technical matters related to the financial rights of ad hoc judges.
"Until now, the Ministry of PANRB is studying and evaluating the amount of ad hoc judges' financial rights, and in the near future a coordination meeting will be held between the Constitutional Court, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of PANRB to discuss the follow-up to the adjustment of ad hoc judges' financial rights," explained Yanto.
Apart from that, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court advised all judges in the judicial environment under the Supreme Court to always maintain integrity and professionalism, remain humble, and stay away from luxurious attitudes and lifestyles.
The judges were also reminded to comply with the code of ethics and guidelines for conduct, both when carrying out their duties and when they are not on duty.
The Supreme Court also responded to the ad hoc judge of the Corruption Court at the Samarinda District Court who walked out of the room (walk out) during the trial. This action was carried out as a form of protest against the ad hoc judge's financial rights.
Yanto conveyed that the Chief Justice considered that the action had interfered with the trial. Therefore, the Supreme Court will take action against the judge concerned.
"The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court stated that this had interfered with the court's service to justice seekers. This action is an irresponsible and unprofessional act. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has ordered the Chief Justice of the Samarinda High Court to form a team to investigate the person concerned," he said.
