JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian revealed that 11 of the 18 districts/cities affected by disasters in Aceh Province had returned to normal conditions. This recovery is marked by the fulfillment of a number of key post-disaster indicators.

Tito, who also serves as chairman of the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas), explained that there were at least 11 indicators that became the benchmark for the recovery of affected areas.

"At least there are 11 indicators that show that the area has recovered and is able to carry out normal government activities and public services," Tito said at a press conference at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Thursday, January 8.

On that occasion, Tito together with the Chief of Staff (Kasum) of the TNI, Lieutenant General TNI Richard Tampubolon, also held a coordination meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs command center.

In the meeting, it was conveyed that 11 regencies/cities in Aceh had shown significant recovery and were declared normal again. Tito explained, the main indicators of recovery include the functioning of the local government, the opening of access to national roads, and the normal functioning of public services.

"The first indicator is that the local government is already running. In addition, access to national roads can be passed, regional general hospitals are operating again, and educational activities are running," explained Tito.

Apart from public service and infrastructure aspects, the recovery of the community's economy is also an important indicator in assessing the return to normal conditions in disaster-affected areas. "The economic activities that have started to run show that social life and the wheels of government in the area have gradually recovered," he added.

Meanwhile, the central government through the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force ensures that it will continue to monitor and accompany other areas in Aceh that are still in the recovery phase until all affected areas can return to normal.
