Vice President Gibran Orders the Governor of South Kalimantan to Seriously Handle the Recurring Flood

BANJAR - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka ordered the Governor of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Muhidin to seriously and commit to listening to the complaints of residents so that they can immediately handle the flooding disaster that continues to occur in the province every rainy season.

"Governor, please, this is the aspiration of students and residents that can be resolved," said Gibran to the Governor of South Kalimantan after reviewing the houses of residents affected by flooding in Sungai Tabuk, Banjar Regency, Thursday, January 8.

Seeing the floods that keep recurring in this province, Gibran asked the West Kalimantan Provincial Government together with the regencies/cities to be more serious in handling, as complained by residents in Banjar Regency who have been flooded for more than a week.

"Please coordinate with the regent, governor and deputy governor, whether there is indeed a spatial planning error in this flood area," he said.

When hearing the complaints of students and residents at the flood site in Banjar Regency, Gibran promised to immediately coordinate with the local government to discuss whether there was construction that did not comply with the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW), and other causes that triggered flooding other than due to high rainfall.

Meanwhile, the Governor of South Kalimantan Muhidin promised to immediately follow up on all the attention and what was the attention of Vice President Gibran during his visit to the flood site in Banjar Regency and Balangan Regency.

The Vice President received complaints from residents who could not carry out normal activities due to repeated floods, especially during the rainy season.

Vice President Gibran also welcomed and listened to the complaints of residents so that government policies would be in favor of the people in the region, especially those who continue to be victims of disasters such as floods.
